Course Description

Over 7 million people around the world are dying from cancer every year. Everyone has been or will be touched by cancer in some way during their lifetime. Over the last few decades researchers have focused their work on immunotherapy, as a new approach for treating different kinds of cancers. Immunotherapy is rapidly changing the ways how we treat cancer and is bringing hope to cancer patients. New medications and novel treatments modalities are constantly evolving, thanks to the ongoing research efforts.

In this course, we will describe the basic principles of immunotherapy and the way our immune system protects us from developing cancers. The Basics of Cancer Immunotherapy course is recommended for students of health sciences and for any other individual who aims to learn more about our immune system.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the course, student will be able to:

  • Understand the role of immune system in our body.
  • Describe the different types of immunotherapy.
  • Make difference between immunotherapies used for treating specific type of cancer
  • Understand and discuss the approved immunotherapies in oncology.
